IBWU ONE TALENT INITIATIVE FOR ECONOMICALLY ACTIVE WOMEN
Our “ONE TALENT” initiative in its simplest form is IBWU’s empowerment program, which supports the belief that you empower a community when you empower a woman.
ONE TALENT seeks to train economically active women in the vocational trades of hairdressing and sewing. They will be awarded a certificate and endowed with the skill set not only to open up their own businesses but also to succeed.
The women will be taught business and accounting skills, profit and loss, and setting up their own businesses.
With corporate partnerships, as well as contributions from the women themselves and their families, these women, after they have completed their training, would have access to funds to buy the equipment they need to become economically active, supportive of their families and communities, and financially independent.
The IBWU ONE TALENT initiative with JCI Enugu was launched in Enugu, South-eastern Nigeria, on Saturday, November 14, 2020, with 20 women involved in the hairdressing and sewing/tailoring program and will be launched in Kaduna with JCI Arewa in Northern Nigeria on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
