IBWU Christmas Cheers Initiative. IBWU Foundation, in collaboration with JCI Nigeria and CSR-In- Action, donated food and clothing to communities in Ajah, Lagos, Nigeria on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
IBWU Foundation, -It Begins With U-, Junior Chamber International, JCI Nigeria and CSR-In-Action, working in collaboration, put smiles on the faces of Ajah residents in Lagos State.
Some of the items distributed included food items such as rice, groundnut oil, tomatoes paste, garri among others and clothes, shoes, to thousands of people in the area. The initiative was to ensure that people had something to celebrate the season with.
The exercise which took place at Olomu Community Secondary School Ajah, Lagos, Nigeria, was in line with the United Nations sustainable development goal 1 and 2 which emphasized poverty alleviation and zero hunger.
Vice President of IBWU Foundation Nigeria Chapter, Okieimen Tolu said that the food and clothing materials, were donated by IBWU Foundation members in Nigeria and diaspora as a way of spreading Christmas cheers.
“IBWU Foundation is a non-governmental organization with presence in Canada, the United Kingdom and Nigeria with focus on alleviating poverty. Presently IBWU is also involved in another initiative with JCI Nigeria and CSR-In-Action, called ‘Cleaner communities in Nigeria, where the goal is to encourage communities to clean up where they live, contribute to positive climate change and be entered into a draw to win N100,000 cash prize. The challenge would run for 12 months, starting January 2022.
“This Christmas season, a lot of likeminded Nigerians, in Nigeria, Canada, the United States, and United Kingdom donated clothing materials, shoes, bags and non perishable food, to ensure that people have something to celebrate with.”
